Like it or not, cleaning is something all of us have to deal with on a regular basis. Everyday Helper has provided a house cleaning service to those in the Corridor area for several months now. Recently, we have been asking our house cleaners for some of their best tips when it comes to cleaning homes. That way we can pass those tips on to you!

Our Helper Erika does a lot of housecleaning for Everyday Helper, so we reached out to her to ask her for her best cleaning and organizing tips. Looking for some extra cleaning knowledge? Check out some of Helper Erika’s cleaning and organizing tips below, so you can tackle the different areas of your home.

Cleaning Products

For cleaning products, Erika prefers to use products that are more natural cleaning products. She says many people don’t realize it, but a lot of the cleaning products in stores have a lot of toxic chemicals in them that can be harmful.

Erika explains that you can use common household products like baking soda, lemons and vinegar to get a deep clean in all areas of your home. However, if you prefer to buy cleaning products in the store, there are many companies out there that are making more natural products that leave out some of those harsh chemicals.

Cleaning Tips

Next, let’s talk about the cleaning itself. If you are wondering where you should spend most of your time cleaning, Erika tells us that the kitchen and bathroom are extremely important to clean in order to keep things sanitary. However, she also suggests spending a decent amount of time keeping your bedroom clean and organized. She believes that people can relax more and sleep better when they come into a clean and tidy bedroom.

When she was asked how to keep your home cleaner for longer, Erika suggests that every person in the house spend between 5 and 10 minutes a day tidying up around the house. She knows from experience that even spending that small time cleaning and tidying really adds up over the days and weeks, so your home stays looking great.

Finally, we talked about deep cleaning, and how often Erika thinks you should do a deep clean of your home. The way she prefers to handle deep cleaning is by keeping a list of tasks that need to be done outside of the regular cleaning tasks (cleaning vents, underneath furniture and appliances, etc.), and she tackles a couple of those tasks each month.

Decluttering and Organizing Tips

For decluttering and organizing, Erika likes to take a Marie Kondo or a minimalist approach. She explains, “Ultimately, the best decluttering/organizing tip is just to purge what you don’t need, which is much more than you think.  A rule I like to follow is if you haven’t used it in the last 3 months and won’t use it in the next 3 months get rid of it, especially if the item can be replaced within 20 minutes from your house for under 20 dollars.”

Erika believes, if you get rid of the things you don’t need, you will have a lot less to declutter and organize.

There you have the wisdom of Erika’s housecleaning experience. Erika has been working for Everyday Helper for about 7 or 8 months now. She enjoys being a part of this company because she gets to help people with daily tasks and give them more time to spend on the things they love.
