When we were kids, summer was all about freedom, fun, and adventure. We spent our summers climbing trees, having water balloon fights, and enjoying every moment. As adults, there is a lot more responsibility that comes with life. We can’t spend summers the same carefree way we used to, but there is no reason why we can’t have a little bit of adventure in the summer.
Check out our list of ways you can adventure this summer (even while adulting):
- Go on a Picnic – Summer is the perfect time for picnicking. What is better than enjoying the beautiful weather and eating a bunch of food at the same time? You can get fancy and pack a full meal or you can just go old school with some PB & J sandwiches.
- Go to a Waterpark – On a hot summer day, there is nothing better than cooling off in the water. As kids, we used to beg our parents to take us to a waterpark so we could have fun and cool off. This summer take a day off and go to a waterpark. Get your adventure on and try out the scariest waterslide you can find!
- Go Hiking – Summer in Iowa is a great time to enjoy the outdoors. Going hiking is a great way to enjoy the weather and the beautiful scenery. There are some great places to hike and bike in this area like Lake Macbride State Park. Stop by and check it out today!
- Go Kayaking or Canoeing – Another great outdoor summer adventure is canoeing, kayaking, or paddleboarding. This would be a great way to cool off from the summer heat; grab a friend and go have some fun on the water.
- Go Roller-skating – When we were younger, roller-skating was something almost everyone did. It is the perfect time to throw it back to your teenage years and go on a roller-skating adventure.
- Go to a Summer Music Festival – Another great summer adventure idea is attending a music festival. You can see if some of your favorite bands are playing at a specific festival, or you can pick a festival and experience some new music!
