The end of the year is a great time to reflect on how the current year has gone and what’s in store for next year. New Year’s Resolutions have been very popular in our country for a while now. There is something about the New Year that makes us feel like anything is possible.

While we may think of New Year’s resolutions as a modern thing, it turns out they actually started thousands of years ago. According to History.com, “The ancient Babylonians are said to have been the first people to make New Year’s resolutions, some 4,000 years ago.”

The Babylonians celebrated the New Year, and they promised to pay back their debts in the New Year. This is said to be the beginning of New Year’s Resolutions.

So, it seems that the idea of bettering ourselves in a New Year is actually quite an old concept, but it is a popular one. Right now, people are brainstorming and thinking about their resolutions and goals for the coming year. And, at Everyday Helper, so are we.

At Everyday Helper, we try to consistently check in with each other to see how things are going with the business and how things could be improved. Our Helpers create a great community of hard work and growth. Because of this, I wanted to check in with everyone to see where they want to grow in 2018.

Check out the 2018 goals and resolutions for everyone from Everyday Helper below!

Kelly:
For 2018, The word I am choosing to drive my year is “Stretch.” I am making it my goal to focus on challenging myself and challenging my team to step outside of our comfort zones and “stretch.” I have set the bar high with goals for myself, for the team, and for Everyday Helper in 2018 and to reach those goals, we will have to give it our all, be bold, be fearless, and stretch. Here’s to a year of challenges and growing!

Contessa:
For 2018, I want to focus on seeing the bright side of things and getting a bit more of reading in each day. I also am looking to volunteer more often and explore different music genres and artists. And of course, be as helpful as I can with Everyday Helper!

Judy:
In 2018, I want to use whatever skills I can to help Everyday Helper blossom even more as a presence in the corridor area. I also hope to do some volunteer work in the area and find new ways to connect with others.

Erika:
My first intention for 2018 is to be more present. To support this, my goal is to set myself up to be early everywhere I go, so I never enter into anything feeling rushed. I will move toward doing more of the things that really serve me and my contribution to the world. My second intention for 2018 is to do more of the things I fear—to step into the experiences or relationships that scare me so that I can come into my fullest potential.

Danny:
My big goals for 2018 are to prioritize and learn to say no. I want to continue to put family first, prioritize my time and my goals, which can mean having to turn things down. I also want to stay motivated all year.
