This week, meet Erika Bordwell! Erika joined our team in the spring of 2017 and has been a great asset!! We love having her as part of our team, and we especially love her answer to the last question 🙂

Where are you from, how did you end up in the corridor area?

I was born in Michigan and lived there until I was 10. From then until I left for college I was raised in Cresco Iowa. I ended up in this area by accident. My college roommate had moved into a two bedroom apartment and only needed one room. I was looking to move anywhere so I took her up on her offer to move back in together.

If you could visit or live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I am happy to go anywhere where I can be immersed in nature. Anywhere with mountains, trees, water, beautiful landscapes are all I need.

Favorite quote?

My favorite quote changes all the time but something I like to remind myself of often is “you can’t pour from an empty cup” as a reminder you can’t give to others what you don’t give to yourself.

Any Hobbies?

Some things that I love to do are anything where I am moving my body but my favorites are yoga and running. I love creating things whether that’s painting, building, writing, etc (anything crafty). I also play piano and read.

Favorite weekend activity?

I usually work weekends, however my favorite thing to do with any time off is take care of myself. Taking time to tend to anything that I feel I need in the moment. Sometimes that means doing as little as possible and other times it means getting all my chores done for the week so I don’t have to worry about them.

What is your favorite song/group, or genre of music?

I don’t have a lot of favorite anything’s because those things change with where I am at personally in any given moment. I enjoy listening to songs that have very poetic lyrics. I really enjoyed Ed Sheeran’s latest album.

What is your favorite season and why?

I am currently really enjoying the weather as it cools down and we get to see nature changing so drastically. I would probably say that I enjoy spring and fall most for that reason.

What is your favorite holiday and why?

I am not a huge holiday person, however my favorite thing about holidays is being able to set aside time to connect with my family since I don’t live very close to them.

What do you enjoy about being on the Everyday Helper team?

I really feel like I am valued and heard being a part of this team. It feels good to be able to do things for people that really don’t seem like a big deal but can make a huge difference in someone’s life and how they spend their time.
